Weatherization

The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) fund programs that allow the Greater Washington Urban League to assist homeowners and landlords in decreasing the housing cost burden on low-wealth families, increasing home safety, improving their environmental footprint, and reducing or eliminating lead-based paint hazards in the home. The Weatherization Program offers services that include attic sealing and insulation, window and door replacements, appliance upgrades and HVAC systems repairs. The Lead Reduction Program identifies lead-based paint and health or safety hazards and does the necessary renovations to remove these hazards. Such services are offered free of charge for those who qualify. Both Programs are verified by DOEE. District residents must apply for assistance by clicking the button below, or by calling 3-1-1 to schedule an in-person appointment.
