Emergency Assistance with Water Bills

Oct 27, 2008

In partnership with the DC Water, the Greater Washington Urban League is administering a program to assist needy and eligible families to pay their water bill during times of critical need. Through the S.P.L.A.S.H. Program (Serving People by Lending A Supporting Hand), community residents can apply for up to $350 of assistance once during a program year. The program is funded solely by contributions from the community businesses as well as thoughtful DC Water customers. To learn more about the program, contact Tiffany Champion at 202-265-8200.

Assistance is based on the availability of funds.

If you are a DC Water customer and wish to make a contribution to the SPLASH Program, just check the “Round Up” box on your monthly water bill. Your total will be rounded up to the next dollar figure. Money collected from the “round up” program goes into a fund to assist needy families.

If you are not a DC Water customer, but wish to support the program, you can do so by making an online contribution at www.razoo.com/SPLASH. The campaign will run through March 31, 2012. The goal of the campaign is to raise $10,000 which will permit the League to serve more families needing assistance. If you wish to make an offline contribution, please contact Audrey Epperson of the League at 202-265-8200.
