Highlights from the 44th Annual Whitney M. Young Memorial Gala

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser was among the unsung heroes honored at the 44th Annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial Gala which took place last Friday evening at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.  Other honorees included Gina Adams (FedEx), Tina Frundt (Courtney's House), Ted Leonsis (Monumental Sports & Entertainment), and Patti LaBelle (Recording Artist).  A special Legacy Award was presented to NBC4 television anchor Jim Vance for his outstanding community service during a career spanning more than 40 years. Read more »

The Minimum SNAP Benefit In D.C. Has Been Increased

The minimum SNAP benefit in D.C. has been increased from $16 to $30 a month. The D.C. Department of Human Services (DHS) retroactively implemented the SNAP Expansion Act of 2014, which increased the minimum monthly SNAP benefit from $16 to $30 using local funding. This increase will benefit more than 12,000 households in all eight wards.

The Greater Washington Urban League’s Entrepreneurship Center Program (ECP) is excited to welcome musician and entrepreneur Marcus Johnson as its first Entrepreneur-in-Residence.  In this role, Johnson will assist ECP clients in the development of their ideas. GWUL Kicks Off Year-End Campaign On #GivingTuesday

GWUL provides over 500 backpacks to returning students

Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) FOR PROSPECTIVE OWNERS AND RENTERS
