GWUL Scholarship Application and Instructions
for Youth Leadership Summit and Camp Atwater
We are pleased to announce the Greater Washington Urban League will award several scholarships to deserving students from middle and high schools for our 2019 Annual National Urban League Youth Leadership Summit and Camp Atwater. Scholarships will be used for airfare, registration, meals, and ground transportation to either event location. Applicants may apply to one of the two scholarships listed below.
Camp Atwater NORTH BROOKFIELD (BOSTON), MA. BOYS ONLY -2 WEEK CAMP: JUNE 30—JULY 13, 2019 GIRLS ONLY -2 WEEK CAMP: JULY 14—JULY 27, 2019
A summer camp established in 1921 on the shores of Lake Lashaway on property donated by Mary Atwater, to provide a summer recreational experience for African American children, at a time when summer camps were generally racially segregated. Focus Features: Leadership Civic Commitment and Community Service Advocacy: Supporting various teen topics.
30TH ANNUAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT JULY 24- JULY 28, 2019 UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS
The National Urban League Annual Conference hosts the nation’s leading political, business and community leaders to enable you to convene, share ideas and discover solutions to issues that have historically plagued underserved urban communities across the country. The goal of the Annual Conference is to arm each participant with real-world solutions to urban challenges and empower you to be a change-leader in your respective community. Conference Features: Career and Networking Fair Leadership Workshops and Forums Special Events College and Scholarship Fair
