About the event
Taking the Census will be the most important thing you can do for yourself, your family and neighborhood in 2020. If Cardi B, D-Nice and Former First Lady Michelle Obama are confirming the truth, you should believe them.
The time is NOW when you have the gift of change and even life in your hands. Only once every 10 years do we get to set the records straight.
An inaccurate Census is detrimental to our communities. Of course, it is essential for us to know just how many people live in the country. But, it’s a lot more than that. Census data determines how entire communities are shaped, how many resources we have access to and how much influence or representation we have at the polls.
The GWUL Census Center strives to inspire and engage the community through our enlightening Census Outreach program. You will be empowered by knowing the history, its full impact and how to overcome barriers. This is a counting exercise not a law enforcement one. This is for all residents. Citizenship or ethnicity isn’t relevant.
Being invisible will only get us more of the same inequality and division we experience today. Stand up and be counted today!
Be a gift of a higher quality school system, access to fresh food, expansion of medical care within your neighborhood, financial resources for our entrepreneurs, etc. This list goes on because the Census touches everything.
The Greater Washington Urban League Census Center was made possible through partnerships with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's Complete Count Committee & Greater Washington Community Foundation.
