#GWUL #GIVINGTUESDAY

Fighting to Stabilize our Families

Giving Tuesday is here again on November 30th.  Giving Tuesday is designed to make it easy for us to help others who are struggling with hunger, financial stress and risk of homelessness.  As our communities recover from the traumas of 2020/2021, it is important we all lend a hand to our neighbors and friends. This year the Greater Washington Urban League #GWUL needs your help in supporting our work to stabilize families and communities through our Emergency Response Fund. The League intentionally created it’s Emergency Response Fund to provide immediate financial assistance in a time of crisis and panic.

What does it mean to support #GWUL on #GivingTuesday?

  • Eviction and Foreclosure threaten the wellness of families and viability of communities. Your generous support can make the difference between default and perseverance.

  • Hunger is often invisible and shame acts as a barrier to seeking help. Your judgment free donation helps GWUL to address both through our food and grocery gift card donations.

  • Utility service terminations place our most vulnerable in the dark and cold. Your charitable contribution to GWUL allows us to return the light and warmth to a home

We have made it easy to give in four ways

  1. Make a gift online click here

  2. Tag your friends to match your gift.

  3. Create a mini-Facebook campaign and challenge friends and associates to give.

  4. Like and share our social media post online (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)

Giving is contagious!

If everyone contributed at least $100 we would meet our goal.  If everyone contributed to the fund and challenged at least two friends to match their gift we would triple our goal.

Most Importantly, thank you for being a great partner in philanthropy.

SUPPORT THE MISSIONS OF GWUL

The mission of the Greater Washington Urban League is to ensure that everyone in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is on the road to self-sufficiency through a variety of innovative programs. In doing so, it’s essential to increase the economic empowerment of Blacks and other traditionally underserved populations to share equally in the responsibilities and rewards of full citizenship. Your donation will help us support that mission.
