Through the DOEE funded Weatherization Program the League aims to decrease the housing cost burden on low-income families, increase home safety and improve upon their environmental footprint. The program offers weatherization services including such renovations as attic sealing and insulation, window and door replacements, appliance upgrades and HVAC systems repairs. Such services are offered free of charge for those who qualify. Eligibility for the Weatherization Program is verified by DOEE's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). District residents must apply for assistance by clicking the button below, or by calling 3-1-1 to schedule an in-person appointment.
The Greater Washington Urban League is looking for qualified contractors to perform the various types of weatherization work and other building services. We seek contracting firms of all sizes. Minority owned businesses are welcome. All Weatherization Contractors are required to have a DC business license, BPI certifications, Liability & Pollution Insurance and meet the requirements listed in the RFQ. This program offers contractors a host of benefits in addition to revenue. Technical training is paid for by DOEE. The work offers an opportunity to fill-in seasonal gaps and an opportunity to be listed as a preferred vendor of the League.
