9th Annual Festival
FESTIVAL BEGINS AUGUST 28th

The 2021 school year is about to be underway, and we want to prepare DC Metro Area students with tools and resources for successful learning!  We invite you to join the Greater Washington Urban League for its 9th Annual Health & Wellness Back 2 School Festival on August 28th. Our holistic approach to school readiness aims to inspire and create safe spaces for children and their families to learn and be part of our community. We are here for you as we navigate this Back 2 School Season! 

A number of activities will be conducted in person at the League’s headquarters while other rich resources will be shared virtually via our website. We will be distributing backpacks filled with school supplies, healthy snacks, fidget toys and more. Free COVID vaccinations and the opportunity to register to vote are being offered. We are also hosting 10 GWUL Entrepreneurship Center clients who will have their products for sale and food to go. 

Parents, guardians, and children can take advantage of kid-friendly virtual emotional wellness, healthy cooking and craft demonstrations. Register for the event and answer a brief survey after exploring these online goodies to be entered into adrawing to win a Nintendo Switch, Stranger Things Lego Set, Melody American Girl Doll or an Addy American Girl Doll.    

This is a Free event that the entire family can enjoy! You must register to reserve your backpack as supplies are not endless. Those registering will be guaranteed a package for each child attending the event in-person. Reservation of 300 backpacks is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Pick-up information will be provided to you upon confirmation of your registration. In order to maintain the safety of the community, please wear a mask and follow proper social distancing precautions.
