We offered the community an opportunity to elevate their experiences to even greater heights by sponsoring the First Annual Washington, D.C. Corporate Dineout - - " The Best Tables In Town".Citymeals-on-Wheels USA board members and co-chairs of the First Annual Washington, D.C. Corporate Dineout were Antoinette Cook Bush, of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and Robert B. Blancato of Matz, Shea and Blancato law firms. Washington, D.C.'s finest restaurants have donated a table of six and created a specially designed dinners, complete with wine and gratuity included. Participants booked their reservations from November 11, 1997 through January 31, 1998. Each table for six costs $2,000, which provided 500 hand-delivered meals. The participating restaurants donated the total cost of the dinner and wines, and our sponsors underwrote additional costs. One hundred percent (100%) of all donations went directly to feed the city's elderly shut- ins.For the 1999 event, the D.C. Coast Restaurant hosted a champagne cocktail reception in January to kick-off the Dineout. All contributing restaurants and corporate donors were present. Donors were gratefully acknowledged in all print materials including the dinner program, a full-page ad in The Washington Post Style section, Wednesday, February 3, and in an article in the magazine of the National Restaurant Association, Restaurant *USA, vol. 19, no. 3, March 1999.Many helped to make this 1999 Washington, D.C. Corporate Dineout a success. Special people like the Honorary Chairpersons - Mayor Anthony A. Williams, and First Lady, Diane Simmons Williams; the Co-Chairpersons - Robert B. Blancato, partner, Matz Blancato & Associates, and Antoinette Cook Bush, partner, Skadden Arps. Many more who purchased tables helped honor the tradition of the Corporate Dineout by sharing a memorable evening with friends and colleagues while helping change the lives of the city's less fortunate - homebound senior citizens.
