My Neighborhood

My neighborhood in Northwest, Washington D.C, has a Wendy's, Safeway, about two gas stations and a large amount of trucks that bring food and other groceries back and forth, but they also bring smog and pollution. One way we can cut down on pollution by diesel trucks is to have them run on solar power. The trucking companies might even save money on gas.

There are many modes of transportation that people use in my neighborhood that actually cut down on pollution. They include biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, and carpooling. But two of the most environmentally friendly modes are trains and people's own two feet. Of course, trains do cause some pollution, but they transport large numbers of people efficiently. Many people I know from my neighborhood really don't like walking when the weather is bad, but there are alternatives such as catching the train in the wintertime.
